W09 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal - Disciple Leadership

This week’s study on Disciple Leadership has been particularly insightful and inspiring. One concept that resonated deeply with me is the idea that true leadership is not about authority or power but about serving others and aligning with higher principles. In the readings and videos, the emphasis on leading by example and striving to become more Christlike in our interactions reminded me that leadership extends beyond professional settings; it is a lifestyle rooted in love, integrity, and humility.

The story of President Kim B. Clark’s “A Message to Garcia” stood out. The concept of being a dependable and proactive individual—someone who can carry out their responsibilities without constant supervision—spoke to me profoundly. It challenged me to reflect on how often I take initiative and whether I approach tasks with diligence and a willingness to go the extra mile. This has inspired me to work towards becoming someone who can be trusted to deliver, regardless of the obstacles.

Another takeaway is the focus on becoming a leader who uplifts others. The idea that leadership is not about elevating oneself but about empowering others aligns with what I aspire to achieve in my professional and personal life. This is especially significant as I prepare for leadership roles in childcare, healthcare, and cooperative enterprise initiatives. I want to lead in ways that encourage those I work with to see their potential and grow.

This week also encouraged me to reflect on the type of legacy I wish to leave behind. The teachings emphasized that leadership rooted in service is enduring because it touches lives in meaningful ways. I feel inspired to cultivate patience, empathy, and gratitude—qualities that will help me lead by influence rather than command.

Looking ahead, I am eager to learn more about balancing disciple leadership with the demands of everyday life. I want to explore how to remain focused on eternal principles even when faced with worldly pressures. This journey of growth excites me as I seek to become not just a competent leader but a compassionate one, striving to emulate the Savior in all I do.
